Light as Medicine: Summer Solstice Practice for Navigating Change

A gathering to honor the longest day and receive the transformative energies of original hunyuan qi.

It's not too late to tap into these powerful energies!

We came together on the summer solstice to celebrate the sun's light at its zenith.

We opened our practice with Suan's joyful German folk song that set the tone for our gathering:

Laughing, laughing, laughing, laughing

Goes the summer over the fields

Over the fields goes the summer, ha ha ha

Laughing over the fields

Stephanie shared profound insights about the cosmic energies we're experiencing right now. In our Qi Science practice, we understand the galactic center as the source of primordial or hunyuan qi - the building blocks of creation and the essence of love within everything.

Here's what's extraordinary: our solar system is currently in its most direct alignment with the galactic center - a position we haven't been in since dinosaurs walked the Earth! As Stephanie put it, "If we were playing Monopoly, we'd be on Boardwalk."

The solstice energy isn't heavy - it's pure light vibration resonating through our bones, tissues, and entire qi field. It stimulates our electrical system in ways we're only beginning to understand. As cosmic rays and infrared light reach the Earth, the planet itself seems to sing in response. Through our practice with original hunyuan qi, everything is being upgraded - our DNA, the food we eat, our very beings. This is a time of new beginnings, an opportunity to consciously co-create with these energies and bring forth a new Earth.

The sharing in our group in this practice was extraordinary. One practitioner described a powerful moment during practice when the Milky Way galaxy - that spiral symbol of the galactic center and hunyuan palace - flowed like a river through their dantians, bringing a cleansing, transformative power that came spontaneously, beyond conscious thought. "It had nothing to do with a conscious thought," they shared. "It just was there with me, in my body."

This practice becomes our medicine, our balm for these times of great change. As we work with the solstice energies, we're learning that the process of change (hunhua, to merge and transform) presents powerful moments of pure potential. When we perceive change not as loss but as opportunity, we can harness that point of harmony where cohesive transformation begins.

Change is happening all around us, and it can feel scary, even overwhelming. The solstice reminds us that this is nature's time of great change too - when the sun's energy peaks, animals and plants are busy using this power to create, grow, and expand. Change isn't inherently bad; we can't really know what it means until we move through it.

Our practice helps harmonize these changes so that what emerges serves the greatest good of life and healing. We bring this understanding to each other, to our collective qi field, and to all of life. No matter what changes happen in the outer world, it's just transformation. Understanding this is vital for our practice, our healing, and, as one practitioner put it, our sanity.

Moment to moment, things are always changing, and they will never be the same. However, as Stephanie reminded us, when we maintain the spirit of Haola, life will only get better and better.

The summer solstice has always been celebrated with joy, music, and the boosting of the sun's energy for fertility and abundance. Sirius, the brilliant white star of summer, is a powerful symbol of illumination, bringing light to the deepest places within. As we align with these ancient rhythms and cosmic energies, we're not just practicing - we're participating in a transformation that promises healing and renewal, even when - especially when - the path forward seems uncertain.
