Recap of Teacher Wei's first visit to America! April/May 2025
We were honored to be a part of the team of certified teachers supporting Teacher Wei at his first ever Zhineng Qigong retreat in America. The "Qi Science" retreat was held at the Mercy Center in Burlingame California April 29-May 4 2025. It was attended by approximately 50 people from the United States, Canada, and Mexico.
It was an incredible experience to go from practicing together only on zoom to meeting and practicing in person!

Teacher Wei presented himself as an extremely humble, playful, approchable, and wise master. All schedules and plans flew out the window when he entered the room. Our practices were simple yet familiar. The teachings were created in the moment by the mingjue entirety to provide to us exactly what was needed.
A main focus of the retreat was the importance of cultivating a good state of mingjue love, happiness, joy, and gratitude. The methods we learn are orders of magnitude more powerful if we are able to bring in these positive qualities unconditionally; no matter what is triggering us. To support this end, much of the retreat centered around playing silly games, singing ridiculous songs, rolling around on the floor acting like babies (Teacher Wei is a crawling terror!) and howling like wild beasts. These practices had a profound impact on increasing our capacity to open our hearts in the face of challenging circumstances.
A surprise treat came from Suan Armstrong, who graciously brought her flutes and sound healing chimes to create mingjue healing sound baths.
You can get a sense of this experience we shared together from the recordings below of some of the evening sound healing sessions held in the Our Lady of Mercy Chapel.
